M  A  R  A  T    D  A  U  K  A  Y E V
Marat Daukayev is a well-known star of the Russian ballet having danced with the famed Kirov Ballet for over twenty-years.

At the age of twenty, Mr. Daukayev won the Bronze Medal at the International Ballet Competition in Varna, Bulgaria. In 1977, he was honored for his artistic achievement with the Russian State Award. And in 1983, he was named the People's Artist by the Russian State. After his career as a principal dancer with the Kirov Ballet, where he danced the complete classical repertoire, he was honored with the position of principal coach for the Kirov Ballet. He held this position from 1992 to 1997.

In 1997, Mr. Daukayev left the Kirov Ballet, and during the 1998-99 season served as Ballet Master for the Colorado Ballet. He has also starred in numerous international tours and in international films and television. Mr. Daukayev currently teaches and resides in Los Angeles.

S  T  E  F  A  N     W  E  N  T  A
Mr. Wenta was the former principal dancer and choreographer of Warsaw's Great Opera Ballet where he danced many leading male roles. As principal dancer of the Paris Theatre d'Art Du Ballet, he performed in the world tour of Fokine ballets in countries such as India, China and Indonesia.

After a long and illustrious performing career he came to the United States and became Artistic Director and choreographer of Western Ballet of Los Angeles. He then went on to form his own company, Wenta Ballet, and assumed the position of Artistic Director. He has been Professor of Dance at CAL ARTS, has taught Master Classes at U.C.L.A., and has choreographed for major film studios including MGM and 20th Century Fox (Logan's Run, Fantastic Voyage, Our Man Flint, Warren Beatty's Reds). He currently teaches at the Dancers' Studio in Los Angeles.

L  A  R  I  S  S  A      F  A  S  T  H  O  R  S  E
A member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe, Ms. FastHorse began her ballet training at the age of seven in South Dakota, and continued her training with the company schools of Milwaukee, Richmond and Atlanta Ballets, as well as the University of Utah Ballet Department. Larissa has performed with Atlanta Ballet, Los Angeles Classical Ballet and Marla Bingham Contemporary Ballet, and been a guest artist for many other companies. Ms. Fasthorse toured in Germany in the production of the musical Fame as a principal dancer.

L  I  S  A     G  I  L  L  E  S  P  I  E
Ms. Gillespie began her ballet training in Vientiane, Loas, and continued her studies in Thailand and the United States. She attended the North Carolina School of the Arts on scholarship and later the San Francisco Ballet School. She has danced with the North Carolina Dance Theater, San Francisco Ballet, Old Dominion Ballet, Capitol Ballet (working with Alvin Ailey and Billy Wilson), and Arizona Ballet. She has also performed with Mementum Dance Theatre, Los Angeles Chamber Ballet, and Marla Bingham Contemporary Ballet. Ms. Gillespie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from George Mason University, Virginia.

 


 

E  D  W  A  R  D     J  E  N  K  I  N  S
Mr. Jenkins divides his talents between acting and dancing. Trained in the Cincinnati Conservatory of Fine Arts, he has performed with the Dance Theatre of Harlem, and as guest artist for numerous local companies in southern California. His television credits include "Equalizer", "Matlock", and "Comedy Central", while his theatrical credits include Ian in "Brigadoon", directed by Rob Marshall, dance artist for "Porgy and Bess" for the New York Metropolitan Opera, Bernando in "West Side Story", directed by Marcus Turner, and many others.

 


 

R  O  W  D  Y    M  E  T  Z  G  E  R
Mr. Metzger has been a professional actor and dancer for the past thirteen years. Major choreographers he has worked with include Twyla Tharp, Herbert Ross, Denny Daniels, and Kenny Ortega. He has traveled extensively in Japan and the Far East for special commercial engagements. He has also performed as a guest artist for Bethune Theatredanse and the Los Angeles Opera.

 


 

H  E  L  E  N  A     P  O  K  O  R  N  Y
Born in Czechoslavakia, Ms. Pokorny has trained in the State Theatre in Brno under Ivo Vani Psoty and the Ballet Arts School of Dance in Westlake, Calfornia. She has attended the summer programs of the School of American Ballet in New York and Pacific Northwest Ballet in Seattle as a scholarship student. She has performed with the Prague National Ballet Theatre in the Czech Republic for three years in ballets such as Cinderella, Swan Lake, Nutcracker, Coppelia, Giselle, The River, Carmen, and Romeo and Juliet. She has now returned to the United States to continue her career.

 


 

L  A  R  A     R  A  M  I  R  E  Z
Born in Mexico, Ms. Ramirez has trained with the Boston Ballet, Atlanta Ballet and the Joffrey Ballet schools. Her performing experience has been with the Minnesota Dance Theatre, Minnesota Ballet, Berkeley Ballet Theatre, Los Angeles Chamber Ballet, Pasadena Dance Theatre and Francisco Martinez Dance Theatre.

 


 

M  A  R  I  A    S  E  R  A  F  I  C  A
Born in Manila, Philippines, Ms. Serafica has trained at the Long Beach Ballet Arts Center, and the summer schools of the Neubert Ballet Institute (NY), and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School. In 1995 she studied under Zina Mamedova in London, England. Maria has performed with the Los Angeles Classical Ballet, Francisco Martinez Dance Theatre, Pasadena Dance Theatre, UC Dance Theatre and the Long Beach Opera, along with other local companies as Guest Artist. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of California, Los Angeles.

 


 

C  I  N  D  Y    R  I  C  A  L  D  E
Ms. Ricalde is a native of Northern California, and began her studies with Virginia Neikrasz of Redwood Concert Ballet. She continued her studies at the National Academy of Arts and the Joffrey Ballet. She began her professional career with William Carter Dance Ensemble touring internationally. She is formerly of the Ohio Ballet, has appeared as Guest Artist for many different companies including James Kelly Choreography Project, Delta Festival Ballet, Lincoln Midwest Ballet, LA Chamber Ballet and San Diego's US International Ballet. She resides in Los Angeles, working on projects that have included music video for the movie Center Stage with Mandy Moore; MTV Movie Awards with Robbie Williams (Millennium); with Paula Abdul on a stage project, for TV composer Charles Fox and a recent episode of Diagnosis Murder. She also toured Russia with Keshet Chiam Folk Dance Company at the International Jewish Festival, and danced at the Bolshoi Theatre. Ms. Ricalde recently danced in the national tour of the Broadway musical, Chicago.

 


 

C  A  T  H  E   R  I  N  E   H  A  U  G  L  A  N  D
Ms. Haugland trained at Ballet West, City Ballet of San Francisco and on scholarships at the Atlanta Ballet and Ballet Tennessee. She has performed with Ballet Omaha, Creighton University Dance Company and Dalton Ballet Theatre.

 


 

A  M  A  N  D  A    M  A  Z  Z  E  R
Ms. Mazzer trained at the Westside Academy of Ballet with Yvonne Mounsey and Rosemary Valerie. She has performed with the Joffrey Ballet and Dance Electric. Amanda has been with Aeolian Ballet Theatre since 1999.

 


 

A  D  O  N  I  S    D  A  U  K  A  E  V  (Guest Artist)
Adonis Daukaev graduated from the Vaganova Ballet Institute in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1985. He began his career as a principal dancer with Lvov Opera Ballet in the Ukraine. He was also a guest artist and principal dancer for Golansk Opera (in Poland) and Salzburg State Theatre (in Austria). Currently, he is the first principal dancer and assistant director for Kaiserslautern Classical Ballet of Pfalztheatre in Germany. He has performed principal roles in classics such as, "Swan Lake", "Romeo and Juliet", "Giselle", "Les Sylphides", "The Nutcracker", "Sleeping Beauty", as well as, the modern repertory. His choreography has been received with critical acclaim in Germany.
